Mercury Vapor bulbs- all created equal?

I have been doing some searching for more economical versions of the heat/UVB mercury vapor bulbs sold for reptiles. Is there really a difference between the $35 dollar "reptile" bulbs and the $10 mercury vapor bulbs you can get through large manufacturers? I have been looking at some wavelenthgh charts for the reptile versions and am wondering what the UVB output of "standard" mercury vapor bulbs are.
