>>Has anyone used Big Apple's BAH 1000.

Yeah, I have one - had it for a few years now. They are ON/OFF controllers. They are best suited for situations where the heater is sized for the cage. In other words, don't use one to control a 100 watt bulb for a 10 gal tank, because the slow response of the sensor compared to the heater will result in poor control of the temperature.

I use one on a 10 gal tank with a 15 watt bulb (I switch to a 30 or 40 watt in Winter), and everything is great.

The differential on mine is roughly 4 degrees. That means, if you set it for 85 deg, it will shut the heater off around 85 and not turn it back on until the sensor senses about 4 deg less than the setpoint, so about 81 deg. Not the tightest control, but no big deal really. After all, snakes have temperature control too. They move around to get what they need.
