If you want to have the capability of using 4' fluorescent fixtures then you might want to go a bit over 48" long for the inside dimension. Unless you plan to use mercury vapor lamps I do think that for the species you keep I would make sure to leave the option of 48" fixtures open. They bulbs are brighter and there are a wider variety of quality ballasts to maximize lighting. [ Hide Replies ]
