40g Custom Cages

I'm not sure if it makes sense, but this is what I was hoping to do.







I'd like a cage that is like two 20g (long) tanks put end to end, because it would make my new stack rack easier. However, the problems that have come to mind are this.



1) Would I be able to maneuver that outside for cleaning?



2) Would 1/8th inch glass hold that much substrate without breaking?



3) Would a heat pad make the glass brittle?



4) What kind of top could I use?



Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I am at a loss for building with glass.
