The first time I ever saw a “rack” system was back in the late seventies, as seen in the photo below. You can see the great Bill Haast (1977) and behind is a rack of aluminum(?) cages for his assortment of hots, including some big beaded and gila lizards. I thought that was so cool, but I felt those were too small for a snake to have to live in them all the time. I had a great set up in an old converted stereo cabinet, the tall skinny ones with the glass door. It provided upper and lower areas. I had to get a short piece of dryer hose and had to buy this hose that turned out to be, like, fifteen feet long or something when it was stretched out. So I had a lot left over, so I made a connection from my “stereo” cage to another big box cage that went around the back of my couch (I was obviously single and living alone) and my pet was a type that normally likes gopher tortoise burrows. It was a nice set up that seemed to work great, until the snake pooped in the tube! Oh well, but I have always liked trying innovative things. I will follow up on the two-story thing!
