I'm only working with easterns. I'm not yet breeding them (probably can in 2007). Of the captive born babies I've acquired, 60% took to scented pre-killed pinkies (tree frog worked better than Am. toad or leopard frog), then converted to unscented after minimal coaxing. As far as color, the color of the babies is not that helpful in determining what they will become. Best to hedge your bets by seeing the parent(s) if possible. My easterns are not like any colubrids I've worked with. I would think they are more like copperheads without the big venom issue, but more active and alert. I'm planning to get more.
