My experience is that the female will not be receptive until May to July and only for about a two week period sometime during those months. If there is plenty of furniture so that they are not constantly looking at each other, you might keep them together. Otherwise, wait until the female is receptive. If you have a fenced in back yard, you can put them outside together during the heat of the day. It is not uncommon for breeding activity to happen when they are let out to free roam during the breeding season. The picture is a 7lb breeder loan male with a 9lb female -- the male does not need to be bigger. Good luck. | ||
