RE: Regarding the dirty cage

Being that these snakes are so scent-driven for life behaviors, it makes sense that a cage that hasn't been cleaned is part of the equation for encouraging breeding.

I've heard one fellow state that he keeps the female's cages a bit on the dirty side during breeding season for that reason.
