Considering that most healthy females max out around 50-70 grams, waiting till 80 is a little overkill. A girl doesn't need to be fat to breed, just mature.

40-50 grams is more than enough to breed. Just feed them as much as they will eat and they shouldn't lose that much weight during the season. My first year females typically weigh more after their first breeding season than they did to the start the season.
