I'll leave him alone for a few days then. Thanks. I took the cool side hide out last night because the crix were hiding in and behind there and it was p!$$in me off. Should I put it back in?

I've been giving all my geckos large enclosures that are roughly 3 to 4 times the length of the gecko. I've been criticised for doing so because these guys are saying to keep them in tiny little boxes until they are full grown so that they can "eat more easily" and catch the crickets. I've been screaming and yelling at them if they'd like to be in a little cell. But I'm starting to have doubts. All my geckos spend almost 90% of their time in the warm side hide, and other than my larger female tangerine which has a phenomenal disporportionate appetite, they only eat the crickets when they pass in front of the hide, dart out, grab and then go back. I don't know if I'm doing this all wrong.

I sometimes feed them with tongs, and all the geckos I had, the previous owners fed with tongs. But of my four, only 2 would eat from tongs. The others want to hunt, I would feed with tongs and they would wait until I accidentally drop the cricket before they strike, and they are not so good at striking. When the crix are on tongs they just close their eyes and turn their head in disgust. This is even so for the ones that have been here for a long time. How can I get them to tong feed again?

Also, ARE there any substrates other than paper towels that do not impact? I HATE thinking they ate all the crix after leaving them there for an hour and then cleaning the cage only to find that they are all just under the darn paper towels.
