I have a locality pair of unrelated Mexican hogs which are appx. 3-4 years old. I have not worked with these guys much and wanted to ask the knowledgeable hog breeders some ??s about breeding them...

These guys were cycled this year and are now pounding f/t mice. I have introduced the female in with the male for the past month and have witnessed alot of courting but no actual copulations. The female has gotten to be huge in the last couple of weeks and I was wondering when these guys typically drop their eggs, what temperature are eggs typically incubated at, and is there a pre-lay shed prior to egg deposition.

Thanks in advance!

I would leave them together for a month or so,you won't see them breed more than likely. Make sure she has good access to a heat pad to lay on all summer and if she lays eggs be sure not to incubate them to warm ,they seem to be really sensitive to incubation temps,if its to hot they tend to hatch with alot of kinks. I would only incubate at about 78 degrees or so. She'll defineteley go thru a pre-egg laying shed and probably lay eggs in late June or July. Good luck! Kevin
