Mine ( S. hispidus) is one year old now, a little over a foot long including tail, and he loves food that's not green as well. I usually feed a mix, but he will often pick out the orange pieces first if I mix in chopped carrots or pieces of sweet potato or winter squash. He also loves an occasional piece of strawberry or banana. His staple is collard greens, dandelion greens, and kale or some similar thick, dark green, but his favorite is cilantro or basil--if I buy a bunch for myself, there's usually some left over, and he loves it.
