I see posts all the time about people wanting a calmer reptile. Unfortunately, we have a mentality of thinking they are like dogs and they should get used to us in just a few weeks. The truth is that it takes time. It takes time. How much?
It varies with age, background, surrounding environment, and individual personality.
So, here is a quick tip for you to try over the next 3-6 months that will yield positive, effective, and permament results:
Have a blocked off area around it's cage or the entire room (preventing escape to other areas)for it to freely roam (only) when you are there. Do not chase or try hold it during this time. What you want is for you to become a non-threatening part of it environment. Only 2-3 times a week is necessary and 5min to an hour or so. They will not forget you during your time away.
The link shows some results with my current project animal (croc monitor) after only a few months with little effort. Link
