I hate to be the realist here, but one must ask....
You live with your grandparents, This can be good or bad. #1 how do THEY feel about snakes? and #2 is this situation permanent or temporary? will you be moving someday? can you take the Snake with you?
What about if it needs to see a vet, can you afford to take it?
Do you have college plans? and if so Dorms are no place for a snake.
What species of snake is this? some species can live for 20 or more years, and in many cases (Not all, so please don't think I'm singling you out or anything) the new owner hits a crossroads in life (especially at your age) and suddenly the snake is less important than it used to be.
New girlfriends, moving, graduation, first drivers license, and many others will come along and possibly overshadow the snake's care.
Do you have a sound back up plan if any of those things should happen?
And no I don't know your mom. She didn't ask me to post this
