Pay more attention to preparing a nest for the female to lay eggs in. I'll let the more experienced hog breeders take it from here.

Also, expanding on what I said above, if the female is unresponsive to the male's advances, pull him out and try again in a few days or a week. Honestly, getting colubrids to mate is nothing, as long as the time of year is right and the snakes are sexually mature adults. For males, that can be 9 months old. Females can breed very young too. If they produce follicles, they can breed. Size of the female doesn't matter in that respect. Larger females may produce more eggs. A Winter cooldown is necessary. Actually, cool nights and darkness for a few months is all that is really needed, but caresheets will often say 55 deg for 12 weeks.

Boas are tougher. Alot of pampering of the female.
