What Kind?

My son bought this snake from a couple who rescued it from a a family that no longer wanted it. The original owners were calling in a corn (which I'm sure is wrong). The people my son got it from said it was a grey banded king, but I'm not sure. I thought it might be a milk snake, but I'm no expert and that's just a guess. The pictures are not very good, but I hope they help. And is there any way I can tell the difference?
