Yes, I think it does usually even out in time. Last year I bred a male Russo het to a female het and two female Mojaves. Three clutches, twenty eggs total. Not a single white snake out of all of them. To top it off, some Russo hets are not that obvious. I had a small handful of male Mojaves and a bunch or normal looking ball pythons.



This year, I owed it to myself to use the same male het, even though I had a male Leucistic (Lesser X Mojave) that was ready to go. One can go crazy missing those odds. I mean, I should have had 5 Lucies based on the odds, right? Well, that's not exactly how it works, is it? Never mind the money invested 3 years ago (I hear ya Evan), I could lose my mind or draw the wrong conclusion over this one!



So, instead of going for the better odds of using a male Lucy, I had to see for myself... you know 20 eggs, het to het, no homozygous snakes. OK.

That was last year.



Yesterday, 3 out of 7 eggs from a Mojave, fathered by the SAME male as last year, had leucistics babies inside. I showed my wife these three beauties and we were both ecstatic.



I'll be breeding white snakes for a long time before I make my initial investment back. I'm definitely OK with that!
