I have a beautiful red phase western hog female (my first). I bought her this spring, and the prior owner didn't brumate her this past winter. I've heard you can sometimes breed hogs without the benefit of a brumation period -- that there might be a 20 day window after the female sheds where she might be receptive. Question 1: Is there a point in time in the summer season where a female hog won't be receptive any longer -- there might not be enough time left in the season to have a clutch before "winter"? Question 2: When I put a male in with my female, after she shed, the female makes a pulsing, jerky movement with the front portion of her body, when the male comes up to her. Any idea what that behavior might indicate? Receptive? Not receptive? Thanks!
