Definitely not a corn snake, and for a reason that none of the others mentioned. The snake lacks the "spear point" on the top of the head. Combine that with the belly, and corn is ruled out.
There is a small part of south Florida where "black corns" are comparatively common. If that snake was found outside that limited area, chances are it is not. Point being, noting location of origin, even with a picture, can be of some value.
