Very few people ever get to see a wild Lachesis...even those who have spent considerable time in your area looking for them rarely see them. Some jokingly say that "wild bushmasters only exist in our imaginations" because they are so elusive despite being large animals. We keep several at our facility and can't even imagine what it would be like to stumble across one in their natural habitat. That's a beautiful find and if you have more pics, please post away!

>>While on a research expedition in the Peruvian amazon jungle I came across a huge bushmaster. It was around 9pm at night and it was just relaxing on a trail. He would not move and just eyed me down, it was so big in fact, that when I first saw it I thought it had to be a constrictor of some kind. This snake was about 8-9 feet long and as thick as my lower thigh at its widest. Here are some pics, I have more on another computer and also a video if you guys are interested. Enjoy.
