I live in Texas now and no the coast here is not the Central California coast on up but its too cold and expensive there anyway. Not all the coast is trashy. Corpus Christy on south is white clean sand and a park. The water is bathtub warm in the summer.
There is a law here that you have to have a Parks and Wildlife licence to keep a burm, retic or any non native to Texas snakes. It costs $20 and is like a fishing license.
No way can Burms get wild here, even with global warming. Every few years a norther comes thats so cold it kills the inshore fish, the mangroves, and the orange trees. Even if they made them illegal, I'll bet most Texans would go on about their snake keeping business. Traditionaly, Texans don't cotton much to stupid laws by the gubment.
