Although I live in Tucson, I am not familiar with the Phx Mountains so I don't know which snakes are most common in those hills. Still, according to range maps, it could be a Tiger but it could also be a Speckled Rattle Snake. You can get some pretty distinct stripes on a Speck. The easiest answer lies in a part of the snake that the pictures don't show - the tail. Specks have a "coon tail" like Diamondbacks.
