It's one of the things that goes with living in the country. Some thing you could do is buy a field guide to reptiles and when you see a snake, look it over and try to identify it. Think of it like bird watching. Snakes do some fascinating things if you don't disturb them. And if you watch them and learn to identify the snakes in your area, you'll be educating yourself and that knowledge might one day prevent you or a loved one from being injured by a venomous snake.
