If you are picky about common names, that race is called the Central Texas Whipsnake (Masticophis taeniatus girardi).

I've never heard of them eating bats, but they will eat almost anything they can catch so that's not surprising. I've seen footage of it's close cousin the Coachwhip (M. flagellum) eating bats like that.
