If you've been keeping snakes for more than 20 years and never had one regurge I think you should probably teach us your secret to success....
In all seriousness one red flag jumped out at me you said it ate right away for you. Leading me to believe you fed it as soon as you got it home. You always want to give your new aquisitions time to aclimate to their new homes. The move into their new homes is very stressful and can lead to it losing it's meal. Second issue is the snakes digestive acids are lost after regurging. You always need to wait a while before trying to feed again. Since you said it was three weeks later that wouldn't have been the issue. Always make the first meal after regurge to be very mild, as small as reasonable. You don't want to offer it a mouse it struggles to swallow if it can be prevented. If it's a tiny hatchling you can try splitting a pinkie so you can offer a smaller meal. I have had good success with that. Good luck with your snake.
