WOW Jerry- what a great post!
I was born in Encino and grew up there until the age of 14, until our parents moved us down to San Diego.
I've been back several times, and going to the old elementary school, house you grew up in, etc. is a TRIP to say the least.
Such a great story and what you're creating with your daughter is priceless! I'm doing the same with my son (will be 7 this June) and I can totally relate!
The first time I took him out last spring, I had one of those moments, too. Walking up and down in the creeks in absolute beauty, my son says to me, "Dad- this is soooo fun. This is more fun than video games!" (tears) We were walking creeks for so long, I kept asking myself why isn't this kid complaining yet- we walked a LOT!
I try to explain this stuff to my wife, but sometimes I think she thinks these trips with my son are all about me... well, maybe they are, but I wouldn't trade them for anything!
THANKS for sharing this one- really touched me.

//Todd
