So your opinion is that Gophersnakes and Kingsnakes should not only be in the same Genus, but also the same species too?
That was one example of an obvious hybrid, the reason people think hybrids are exceedingly rare is that they can't see it even when they hold it in their hand. What happens when an F1 hybrid back-crosses to either species for a couple generations? Are those snakes no longer Hybrids? It's natural, and more common than most realize, and DNA is proving that to be the case. ----- Herp Conservation Unlimited
