I was walking my dog and saw this little snake squirming across the road. I promptly captured it and brought it home to take some pics. It was about 5 inches long or so and a beautiful red/orange color (which I was not able to capture very well - my pics make it look more brown, which it wasn't). I have NO IDEA what it is and was hoping someone might be able to ID it to help satisfy my curiosity.

The pictures aren't the greatest because it wouldn't sit still.

My first thought when doing some quick research was an "Everglades Rat Snake". Then I read that they don't come up as far north as Orlando and also that their babies are 8-9 inches. So that would certainly exclude this little one.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously
