Classic Everglades rats

Well..I did bring up that I have one or two other things around the collection; now I better pony up.

Here's a shot of my classic Everglades rats from Daniel Parker at Sunshine Serpents. Terrific person, wonderful website and outstanding animals and service. No down side to Daniel anywhere.

These adults are about four years old and the female is preggers for the first time. The male is the one in front, giving the camera the stink-eye, since he's still mate-guarding. The female is coiled on top of the nest box, taking in some full-spectrum light. The female has ghostings of her juvenal pattern, which is how I tell them apart. I'm interested to see how the babies come out, and one friend is already salivating for a choice hatchling.

The female has not yet had her pre-lay shed so it will be a while before we have any eggs, and I don't hurry the eggs along, just incubate around 78 degrees, so look for babies around late August-ish.
