I posted several months ago about this very nice suboc from parents collected in Hueco Canyon, Texas. The breeder used to live there, although I met him in Tucson at the Tucson Herp Show, which has become one of the nation's best reptile shows. When I first met the breeder, he was selling some of the nicest subocs I'd seen, and for a great price. I got a pair but eventually let them go to a friend who kept mooning over them.

I missed those fine subocs and tracked down the breeder, who was still at it years later. He had some Hueco Canyon animals he thought I'd like. I got a pair of hatchlings and they are the cleanest, nicest subocs I've seen. Their color is an indescribable fawn/gold that seems to glow.

These subocs are strong feeders and now both take small rats. They're old enough to breed this year and are currently together. Suboc breeding season is June. Any babies are already spoken for, since I'm keeping some and several friends have lined up for any surplus. Subocs don't have large clutches and it already looks like there will not be enough to go around.

The original breeder sold the parents of mine, but kept a few babies--he just wanted a few years away from breeding so he's raising the next generation and plans to breed again when his snakes are old enough. I hope he keeps going--he is very dedicated and has some of the best animals around.
