The huge snook were caught on a little narrow park boardwalk in Hollwood right ON the intracoastal waterway just inland of the beach.
Yeah, that huge tarpon had to have been adrenaline pumping for sure dude!. I have also had lots of fish that were so big it seemed like the line was attached to a truck bumber going down the highway, and not a thing could be done to turn or even slow them any. It is exciting as all hell is what it is. I know you know exactly what I mean too.
Yes, I scanned those photos many years ago. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of the program you are using.
Also, whenever you do not have a weight scale, and want to know the weight of a big game fish such as a tarpon, there is a very tried and true weight calculation formula that I have memorized by heart from the "Florida Sportsman" magazine that is VERY accurate. It goes as follows....
length x girth(squared), then divided by 800 equals the approx. weight of the fish, give or take a couple pounds on a huge fish.
