I had the problem of Swiffer looking smeared where the dogs slid across when they were making a mad dash for the door. I started using a mixture of vinegar and water. Now they look great...until the dogs go out and stomp through the mud,come in and walk across the floors.
I have heard some brands of fabric softner sheets are harmful to some breeds, but that's probably an urban legend too.
