Have you taken your cat to the vet since you've noticed the litterbox issues. That may be a first good step. A vet can give you some idea on whether the issue is behavioral or if something is really wrong with your cat. There is a great website that has a section on this topic that might be a good thing for you to look at. Go to http://www.catwellness.org/signs.asp.
