We are trying to figure out a way to minimize the trauma to the cats and still keep them with us. I have even thought of buying a small RV, but I am not even confident that they would acclimate to driving in it.

You have quite a proplem.I have a motor home and me and Babba usally put on about 3000 miles a year traveling with no proplem at all.Of course all cats are not the same but im sure they would acclimate to the driving.Babba lays under my seat when were moving.When your not moving there shouldn't be any proplems at all.

Actually the airplane seams resonable.
