One Cat Goes Nuts When I Go To Bed

I've seen posts on this website of similar cases - maybe someone can help me with mine. I have two male (neutered) cats who are brothers. Both are very affectionate and follow me everywhere, and both will jump on my lap when I sit in a chair and sleep for an indefinate time. But when I go to bed, one of them goes wacky. One cat curls up by me and purrs and sleeps all night and is the world's best cat, but his brother will NOT settle down when I go to bed. Often this is right after he has just been sleeping on my lap, but as soon as I get in bed, he's wired. He knocks things off my dressers, scratches on the wallboard or the bed, and does this repetitively - I will get up and toss him from the room, or squirt water on him, and he runs off for a few minutes just to come right back and repeat the same behavior. He wasn't always like this - I would say he's been doing this for about a year (he's six years old). I have been shutting the door and locking him from the room so I can sleep. His brother (the good cat) doesn't seem to mind - we lock out the "bad" cat and both go back to a peaceful sleep. Any ideas on why this is happening? I swear I need the Pet Psychic.
