You are doing the right thing by getting your cat neutered. It will keep him healthy and alive longer. If he was not fixed he would try to get outside. More then likely he would. There he could catch many cat dieases. Also, cats that aren't neutered have a tendence to spray more then neutered cats. Last there are away to many cats out there right now with out homes.

Here is a link that might make you feel more at ease for neutering.
