When you start thinking in human terms, it can be hard to neuter an animal. However, you have to realize that the cat really doesn't know he's been neutered. Sexual activity to a cat is not at all like human experience. Toms frankly don't care about the kittens they've fathered and in fact will try to kill them! Reproduction is only an instinct to them and mating provides a very fleeting pleasure.



In truth, neutering will actually spare your tom a lot of frustration and troubles. Intact toms are driven to roam and fight to propogate themselves. They can become vicious and untrusting. They are exposed to disease and hazards from the environment. The search for a mate becomes the be-all and end-all of a tom's existance. In reality not a happy picture.



I understand your reluctance to put your kitty through this major proceedure, but in the long run you will both be happier and you won't have to worry about unwanted kittens!
