I would have to agree here - I remember the days when my grandparents did not have the modern convenience of a bathroom- it was either the "chamber pot" or the outhouse and I didn't like either as a child. Running water in the house was done with a pump that had to be primed before you could even get the water to flow. Cooking was done on a coal stove. However, they did have the old-fashioned wringer washing machine.
