Tail kinking happens when the day gecko isn't able to support the weight of the tail while basking. If they stay on the glass all the time tail kinking is more likely to happen. To keep it from happening make sure that the basking spot is as close to the light as possible and that it is wide enough. I have a Standing's Day Gecko too and I'll be getting more after I build a bigger tank.
