...almost always need to be dimmed to avoid getting too hot...



...place the pad under one end of the cage to maximize your temp gradient...adjust temp with a dimmer (rheostat) or thermostat...usually a pad of about 20-25% of the floor space is sufficient...can be left on 24/7...



...tempa adjustment to about 93-95F will allow a BP to efficiently thermoregulate w/o risk of melting plastic, but you need a reliable temp-controller...
