Get a 40 or 50 gallon and save yourself the trouble of changing over later. Just fill it with lots of hides or other cage furniture so that it feels smaller for your hatchling. There is no difference between the floor space of a 40 and 50, but a 40 is easier to heat. I would use a ceramic over tank heater for this type of set up or a under tank heater, not flexwatt. Flexwatt is OK when you have to heat lots of tubs (although heat rope is fast becoming a better alternative), but there is no reason to mess around with it to heat one tank.

You can buy both types of heaters (ceramic or UTH) at pet stores, or for a discount if you check around on-line.
