Burying Eggs?......

I had my first clutch yesterday, and I was wondering. I have always seen people with eggs sitting on top of the perlite/vermiculite mixture. I am using 100% perlite. Should I bury the eggs about 50%, or just sit them on top of the perlite? I currently have them buried 50%, should I change that?
