Turtle scutes

Has anybody had problems assosiated with retaining scutes with Podocnemis erythrocephala. Currently I am having them bask under full Spectrum UVB self ballasted mercury vapor bulbs for 1-4 hrs per day. These are long term 1.1 captives and have a good balanced diet that represents what they would have in a natural Rio Negro setting. diet consists of but is not limited to nasco/Mazuri turtle diet, leaf eater, worms, sweet potato, crocodilian diet (Mazuri), meal/super/wax worms, grapes, nuts, etc. Water quality is not an issue.
