The poison dart frog is the common name of a group of frogs in the family Dendrobatidae which are native to Central and South America. These species are diurnal and often have brightly-colored bodies. These are tiny, brightly colored frogs that, in the wild, secrete toxins from their skin as a defense mechanism. Captive bred frogs, denied the foods found in the wild, do not produce these toxins, and are widely kept and bred in terrariums.

Many captive bred varieties and color morphs are available to herpetoculturists interested in keeping these tiny living gems. Discussions on Mantellas are also included here due to their similar appearance to Dart frogs.

Here you may post messages or questions pertaining to all aspects and issues regarding the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of all Dart ()Arrow) and Mantella Frogs.
