THey are diggers ( some worse than others depending on the kind of sub-species). THey like a deep substrate preferably sand with a basking area of around 85° in the day time and night time temp around 70-75. They like to hide and so they will need shelter to feel secure. What I did for mine is took a 4" PVC pipe from a hardware store and spit it lenghtwise down the center, then I got some river rock ( which you can get from any landscape store, then I adhered the rock to the pipe with silicone ( without the mold inhibitor) and let it cure overnight attach some moss with the silicone and you've got a nontoxic hide away LET THE SILICONE SIT OVERNIGHT TO CURE BEFORE INTRODUCTION.
