I need a new camera

I didn't even know this forum existed.
I'm not ready for a SLR, but I do need a new camera. I dropped my Nikon Coolpix 950, it makes funny noises now. It sounds like the car antenna when the gear was stripped. It is many years old and probably not worth fixing.
I'd like recommendations for good point and shoot cameras. I don't plan to print much if at all, mostly for internet. My old camera had a macro setting, which came in handy for baby eyelash vipers.
What cameras and options should I be looking for.
