As far as finding amphibians breeding goes, in my area of Ontario ( London) and slightly north, they start in may sometimes but you really notice it in June. As far as snakes go, you'd have to go looking if it wasn't warm. Sometimes we have hot Mays and sometimes they're frigid. Last year, I was actually fortunate to have a snake almost literally run into me on the trails during early summer. But I've only been herping for a short time and my feild notes have much to be desired, so hear out others!
