I agree, even though I've had mine for a relatively short time. Depending what species you get, they grow up to about 2-3 feet long (at most), but 2/3 of that is tail length. I'd recommend a peat or bark substrate, because these guys love to bury themselves. I'd advise getting two water dishes big enough for your pet to soak itself in so that you can switch them as needed in order to always provide water and clean them often, as the lizard will probably defecate in its water.

Always keep some fruits and veggies available, even if your pet turns out to be a bit more carnivorous than others of its species. Provide lots of low-to-the-ground hiding places and low obstacles to make him/her feel at home and to give them some excercise.

I've found that my yellow-throat absolutely LOVES baby food, so don't be afraid to experiment with it.
