Depending what species you get, they grow up to about 2-3 feet long (at most), but 2/3 of that is tail length. I'd recommend a peat or bark substrate, because these guys love to bury themselves. I'd advise getting two water dishes big enough for your pet to soak itself in so that you can switch them as needed in order to always provide water and clean them often, as the lizard will probably defecate in its water.
