HELLO
HE SOUNDS DEHYDRATED
GIVE HIM A SOAK IN SOME LUKE WARM WATER
ONLY UP TO THE BOTTOM OF HIS SHELL
FOR ABOUT 10 TO 20 MINUTES EVERY 2 OR 3 DAYS
TO HELP HIM FROM BECOMING DEHYDRATED MAKE HIM A MICRO HABITAT IN HIS ENCLOSURE TO ENSURE PROPER MOISTURE LEVELS WHILE HE IS A BABY
THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED BY USING A NEW PLASTIC KITTY LITTER PAN
PLACE IT UPSIDE DOWN AND MAKE A DOOR WAY FOR YOUR TORTOISE REMEMBER SULCATAS GROW FAST SO ALLOW FOR GROWTH
KEEP THE ORGANIC FERTILIZER FREE SOIL/SAND MIX DAMP NOT WET OR A PUDDLE
I USE SUPER SOIL FROM HOME DEPOT IT IS A PEAT, SAND, AND SOIL MIX ALL READY TO GO
I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY NEGATIVE AFFECTS THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME AND SOME OTHER BREEDERS I KNOW
I AM NOT LOOKING FOR BEDDING DEBATES
I AM ONLY TRYING TO HELP
I FEED ON A FLAT ROCK BURRIED IN THE BEDDING TO AVOID SOIL INTAKE
KEEP IT LIKE IT COMES OUT OF THE BAG
SPRAY UNDER THE KITTY LITTER PAN TO MAINTAIN THIS MICRO CLIMATE FOR YOUR TORTOISE TO BURROW UNDER
THIS ALSO TRAINS THEM TO GO IN OUTDOOR HUTS WHEN THEY ARE OLDER ELIMINATING MOST OF THE DIGGING URGE
ONLY MY FEMALES DIG TO LAY EGGS
RUSS GURLEY HAS A GOOD BOOK OUT ON SULCATA HUSBANDRY
HOPE THIS HELPS A LITTLE
JEFF
