Which is the better camera? I like the way the Nikon feels in my hands, but does the Canon take better pics?



No. The Canon does not take better photos than the Nikon, nor vice versa. Nor do the Canon or Nikon take better pictures than the Sony, Pentax and Olympus bodies. Good photographers take good photos, not good cameras. If you learn to use the camera and learn to take good photos, you will be very happy with the nikon system.



Also, good lenses make a bigger difference than good cameras. Always do some online reviews before you buy other lenses.



The fact that you like the way the Nikon feels is a good sign. That is FAR more important than the name printed on the front of the camera. It's a pity you didn't look at some of the entry level cameras produced by Pentax, Sony, and Olympus, but as long as you like the body you bought and it has the features you want, you will be happy with the camera.



Since you ended up buying the kit lens, you actually did make a good choice since the Nikon kit lens is superior to kit lens that Canon puts on their cameras.
